Underwater Cutting Rods

Dominion Divers Ltd. is the exclusive Canadian distributor for VULCAN –1.5X Underwater cutting electrodes, manufactured by Welding Electrode Technologies Inc.

The VULCAN 1.5 X is an oxygen/arc exothermic cutting electrode. It can be used with any 3/8 inch collet equipped underwater cutting torch such as Arcair Sea Torch, Broco BR-22 Underwater Cutting Torch or Craftsweld Arc/Oxygen Torch. The VULCAN must be provided with a constant oxygen supply at adequate pressure and flow rate for its working depth (see chart below) and may be used at a maximum efficiency by providing a DC electric current on straight polarity (negative electrode) at proper amperage for its working depth (see chart). The VULCAN may be used with a 20% decrease in efficiency by providing the necessary oxygen supply and simply starting combustion with the spark energy of a 12- volt battery in momentary contact.

VULCAN Cutting Requirements: for surface cutting, oxygen should be set at 90 PSI. Current setting using a welder is 150 amps or a 12 – Volt DC battery.

Perthermic plasma cutting energy and 20-inch length provide ease of handling and twice the cutting distance of commercially available oxy/arc exothermic underwater cutting electrodes.

The rods generate over 10,000 degrees of plasma-generated energy.

Electrically insulated covering and complete resistance to sea water guarantee second time usage after immersion. Light emitting orientation and warning stripes help to maintain accurate cutting direction and safety in murky underwater conditions. The rods are packed in a nylon mesh carrying bag which attaches to the diver's harness.
